Found! je t'aime Paris

Last weekend, my mom and I were driving by State Fair Park when we noticed a sign that said:  "Rumage-rama, this weekend!"  My mom is the peanut butter to my jelly when it comes to thrift shopping so needless to say, we were giddy with excitement.  Having never been to the event before, we didn't really know what to expect.  As it turned out, Rumage-rama is pretty much a HUGE indoor flea market full of oldie-but-goodies.  It seemed everywhere I turned there was a new treasure to unearth (seriously LOVE when that happens).  Not to mention that it was so nice to be inside ... I have spent plenty of flea markets fighting extreme heat, rain, or freezing temps so I definitely appreciated the opportunity to browse in a climate controlled, dry building!

One of the coolest things I saw was an amazing heart locket bracelet (similar to some of these) but, when I tried it on, I disappointingly found out it was too small (boo!).  The sweet lady who was running the booth explained to me that it was a "sweetheart bracelet" from the 40's.  Back then the bracelets were given to sweethearts with a picture inside (awww).  I wasn't super surprised about it being too small as the "norm" jewelry from generations ago is sized lot smaller than what we are used to today.

Luckily, I found lots other treasures to make up for the fact that the bracelet didn't get to come home with me.  One of which was this Paris souvenir pin from the 50s or 60s.  It was found pinned to a hat with a bunch of other European attraction related pins suggesting that it really came from the City of Lights.  I am a bit jealous that this pin has been to Paris, yet I still haven't ;)

I hope you all had wonderful, relaxing and all-around pleasant weekends.  Wishing you the happiest of Mondays, friends!
