A Walk Through the Woods

It has been unbelievably windy in Wisconsin as of late making the lovely colored leaves fall even more quickly from the trees. This gets me to day dreaming of playing hooky and taking a long, sweet autumn walk through the woods.

The Librarian

Recently, Andy and I rediscovered the beauty of our local library and have been checking out wonderful historical documentaries covering anything from the Rosenbergs to the Wright Brothers. Nothing beats getting home from work, pouring a glass of wine, and curling up on the couch to learn about an amazing person or event from days past.

Tokens of Love

Andy is not one to express his love in a sweet handwritten card or flowers. Instead, there are things that he does for me everyday that I know are his tokens of love for me. Each morning he gets up before me to make my coffee (he doesn't even drink coffee). At night, before I fall asleep, he stops by to rub my back and wish me sweet dreams.

Apple Pie

Using freshly picked apples from a local orchard, this past weekend I baked my first apple pie of the season...homemade crust and all (really...it is not that hard! If any of you are are curious for the recipe I use, let me know and I would be happy to pass it along!). Always one to stray a bit outside the lines...I layered in ginger and pumpkin pie spice in addition to the traditional nutmeg and cinnamon spice. We enjoyed it warm with a scope cool vanilla bean ice cream on top.
